Rehabilitated market in Sebha, Southern Libya, builds fresh food access and social cohesion
20 August 2024
WFP, in partnership with the Sebha Municipality and the US Institute of Peace, rehabilitated the Aljeed market in southern Libya to boost the local economy, support local farmers and improve social cohesion. This has enabled local traders to sell their goods and products to the local community, providing a long-term solution to boost the local economy, support local farmers and strengthen the community as a whole. The market's rehabilitation was completed in 2023, thanks to the generous support of the German government and the UN Peacebuilding Fund (PBF).
